Arrest made in child sex case

PUEBLO, Colo. - The Pueblo Police Department says it has made an arrest in a sex assault case involving a 6-year-old child.

The assault happened in a neighborhood on the east side of Pueblo in April of 2013.

Investigators say DNA evidence collected at the scene matches Eugene Felix Martinez, 48. Martinez was arrested in Boulder, where he is accused of sexually assaulting two women.

On October 20, 2013, Boulder Police said that Martinez stole a cell phone from the home where he's accused of sexually assaulting the two women. Boulder Police said they tracked the stolen phone to a transient camp, and arrested Martinez. He's being held on a $100,000 cash-only bond.

Prior to his October arrest, Martinez was on the lam after managing to slip out of his handcuffs and run away from Denver Police Headquarters. In that situation, Martinez had been arrested for failure to register as a sex offender.
