Berthoud police officer accused of child abuse

LOVELAND, Colo. - A Berthoud police officer accused of child abuse has been arrested in what's the latest development for a department that's currently under the control of the Larimer County sheriff.

Loveland police said that 35-year-old Jeremy Yachik had been arrested Wednesday morning at his home. The Denver Post reports that Yachik faces four counts of child abuse and one count of false imprisonment.
He's out on $1,500 bail and due in court Nov. 12 to be advised of the charges.
Loveland police say they received an email on Sept. 24 making allegations of child abuse that had happened during the past several months.
Berthoud officials last week decided to have Larimer County Sheriff's Sgt. John Feyen serve as the town's police chief during the investigation.
