Car crashes into pole, causes power outage

Police: 32-year-old man was driving drunk

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A car crash into a telephone pole caused a power outage to more than 1,300 customers in Colorado Springs. The crash caused a chain reaction, knocking down power lines in the area. 

The right through lane of southbound Powers Blvd. between Palmer Park Blvd. and Galley Rd. is expected to be closed all day Saturday while crews work to repair the light poles in the area.

The crash happened shortly after 1:30 a.m. Saturday on Powers Blvd. and Omaha Dr.

Police on scene say a 32-year-old man was driving drunk. He suffered serious injuries from the crash and was taken to a local hospital.

Police tell us felony charges against the man are pending.
