Castle Rock votes to repeal open-carry ban

CASTLE ROCK, Colo. - Castle Rock voters have overturned a ban on the open carry of firearms on city property.

Results from a special election on the open carry of firearms were announced Thursday. Voters narrowly approved a measure that repeals restrictions set by the town manager on the open carry of firearms on municipal property such as parks.
The measure passed by a vote of 4,737 to 4,586. The special election was held Aug. 19, but legal challenges delayed the counting.
City officials say the special election garnered the most ballots in history for a town election.
