DENVER (AP) - Colorado Lt. Gov. Joe Garcia is promoting a website designed to help former inmates integrate into society by guiding them on how to find employment, housing, and public transportation.
Garcia said Tuesday the goal is to contribute to the success of an estimated 900 inmates released monthly from Colorado prisons. Garcia says many of them have been away so long they don't know how to use a cell phone or a computer.
The website called "Own Your Future" is free and also includes guidance on how to use a computer. The site is funded with grant money.
The website has been around since April but outreach efforts to promote it started Tuesday. The initiative is dedicated to former Department of Corrections Director Tom Clements. A former inmate is the lone suspect in his slaying.
