Colorado voters given plenty of options this election

Voters consider several options leading up to Election Day

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - By now, you should have the ballot that lawmakers made sure was mailed to you, but they also want you to have the option of showing up and voting, as well.

This year, new election laws apply that give voters across the state more options for casting a vote.

You can choose to mail in your ballot, drop it off at designated locations or vote in person at a voting center.

A spokesman for the El Paso County Clerk & Recorders Office said the closer we get to Nov. 5, the more important it is to have options.

"It's critical that people understand that we need to have you ballot by 7 p.m. on Election Day, so starting at about Thursday you need to question whether or not the post office is going to be able to get it  back to us on time, so that's why we have these drop-off boxes," said Ryan Parsell.

The drop boxes are accessible 24 hours a day. Parcell said the easy availability is why 13,398 people have turned in their ballot through a drop box as of Wednesday.

"We increased the size of the box [at the Garden of the Gods Citizens Service Center location] because of the popularity of it," said Parsell.

A drop box is available at 8830 North Union Blvd., 5650 Industrial Place and 1675 W. Garden of the Gods Road.

El Paso County also has several Voter Service and Polling Centers open during normal business hours , including the Fountain Police Department, Town of Monument offices and the El Paso County Fairgrounds.

In Pueblo, the Clerk and Recorders Office at 720 N. Main St. will double as the only Voter Service and Polling Center.

Two drop-off locations in Pueblo have opened as well. The first is at the Pueblo West Library, located at 298 S. Joe Martinez Blvd. The other is the Lamb Branch, at 2525 S. Pueblo Blvd.

On Tuesday, Nov. 5, Pueblo County plans to open two additional locations for dropping off a mail-in ballot.
