Cripple Creek without power Thursday morning

CRIPPLE CREEK, Colo. - The entire city of Cripple Creek was without power Thursday morning.

The outage was caused by the failure of a transformer, according to information provided by a spokesperson for Black Hills Energy. The cold, wet snow is being blamed for the failure of the transformer.

The power outage closed businesses and delayed the start of school.

Power was restored shortly after 10:00 a.m.
