CSP investigates crash with serious injury

Alcohol a factor in the crash

EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. - The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a crash that injured two people in El Paso County Sunday night.

The crash happened on Woodmen Rd., just east of Mohawk Rd.

Troopers say one vehicle was traveling on the wrong side of the road and crashed into another vehicle. One of the vehicles rolled, and the other spun into the center median.

The driver of the vehicle traveling the wrong way, 73-year-old Bernard Kaufman of Colorado Springs, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the other car, 50-year-old Melanie Berg of Falcon, was also taken to the hospital. She suffered moderate injuries.

Troopers say alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Charges are pending and will be determined once the investigation is complete.
