CSPD searches for domestic violence suspect

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. - Investigators with the Colorado Springs Police Department's Domestic Violence Unit are seeking the public's help in locating Aubrey Lanny Adams.

On September 29th, 2013 a female patient was treated at Memorial Hospital Central for injuries sustained as a result of a physical assault by suspect: Aubrey Lanny Adams DOB 12/18/1987.  

The Memorial Hospital Forensic Nurse Examiner team notified the Colorado Springs Police Department, which then initiated a criminal investigation.  During the investigation, officers learned that the 23 year old female victim was physically assaulted and strangled by the suspect while inside her residence located in the 100 block of North Meade Ave.  

As the assault escalated, Mr. Adams was able to gain control of a .357 revolver that belonged to the victim, and pointed it at her.  The victim fought Mr. Adams for control of the handgun and Mr. Adams discharged the weapon, firing a single round into the ceiling of the residence.

An arrest warrant has been issued for the Domestic Violence Related Charges of Criminal Attempt - Second Degree Murder.  

Mr. Adams is described as a white male 5'11 inches tall and 160 pounds, with red or auburn hair and hazel colored eyes.
