COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - "My mom was my best friend," 22-year-old Marena Antonetty said. "So was my brother."
The grieving is completely raw for Antonetty, who a little more than 24 hours ago lost both her mom, Kim, and her little brother Raley in a car accident on Marksheffel Blvd. and Bradley Rd.
She doesn't want to believe it.
"Me and Raley were so close, and I don't know what I'm going to do without them."
The accident happened around noon Friday.
The city of Colorado Springs said that a power outage at the time of the crash may have caused the traffic lights to malfunction.
A spokesperson says the city is investigating the accident.
Daniel Cochran drives through the intersection almost daily. According to Cochran, the traffic lights in both directions change too quickly and the area is full of potholes.
"Every couple of months there is a pretty bad accident at this intersection," Cochran said.
This accident claimed the lives of two individuals Antonetty calls the lights of her life.
"It still feels like a dream, a bad dream, I just can't wake up from," she said.
The driver of the pickup that was also involved in the crash was taken to the hospital and is expected to be okay.
