DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. - A Douglas County sheriff's deputy was taken into custody Friday, and posted a $50,000 bond on two counts of sexual exploitation of a child.
On Monday, the sheriff's office identified the deputy as Robert French.
The sheriff's office says it received information earlier this week about inappropriate text messages involving a juvenile.
The investigation revealed that French was allegedly involved.
The DCSO terminated French's employment with the sheriff's office on Monday for department policy violations and the alleged criminal conduct.
An internal affairs investigation is also happening.
Investigators say the deputy's alleged conduct was while off duty and did not involve schools.
This case is being investigated by the Douglas County Sheriff's Office in cooperation with the 18th Judicial District, District Attorney's Office and the Rocky Mountain Computer Forensics Lab (RMCFL).
Investigators say it's a very complex case and there may be additional arrests.
