Drag racing suspected in nasty wreck off Academy Blvd.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs police investigated a car crash that could be the result of drag racing.

It happened Sunday near Academy Boulevard and Austin Bluffs Parkway just before 5 p.m.

Police said the driver of a red car hit a Jeep. Both vehicles ended up in the backyard of a home.

Both driver were sent to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Police said the red car may have been racing a Mustang. It stopped briefly following the crash but then left the scene. Police are searching for that car.
