EPCSO providing security at Incline

Deputy posted during daylight hours at trailhead

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. - Authorities are making sure that no one gets on the Manitou Incline while it's closed for repairs.

On Tuesday, the second day of the popular trail's closing, a deputy with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office sat in a patrol car at the trailhead.

The deputy said authorities would guard the entrance during daylight hours, and that it appears highly unlikely that anyone would use the Incline at night when it would be more dangerous.

Posted signs warn violators that they will be fined $100 for trespassing.

The deputy said the only activity Tuesday was a visiting Ohio couple who hadn't heard about the closing.

The trail will be closed until Nov. 30.
