Explosive device found underneath truck in Colo. Springs

Police: Could have blown up truck, damaged nearby apartment

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs Police are investigating after an explosive device was found under a truck near the intersection of South Nevada Avenue and East Navajo Street.

Police say that someone tried to set off the bomb but it failed.  Police disarmed the bomb at the scene and said it was a dud.

Had the bomb worked as intended, it would have been powerful enough to destroy the truck and damage a nearby apartment complex, police said.

Police do not have any leads as to who built the bomb or why.  If you have any information, you're asked to call police at 719-444-7000.
