Ezekiel cereal sold in Colorado recalled

May contain almond, not listed as allergen

DENVER - The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment announced on Tuesday a voluntary recall by Food For Life Baking Company of Corona, California, of its Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Grain Cereals.

The recall was initiated as a precautionary measure because the product may contain almond, an allergen not listed as a product ingredient/allergen.

There have been no reported cases of illness at this time. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to almonds run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The recalled products were sold nationwide through health food distributors and natural food retailers. The cereal was available at King Soopers and City Market locations throughout Colorado.

Food For Life Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Grain Cereals are sold dry in 16-ounce (454g) Cereal Cartons in three varieties: Original (orange carton), Golden Flax (blue carton) and Cinnamon Raisin (purple carton).  

This recall is limited to products listed below that were shipped nationwide between Nov. 20, 2012 and Feb. 11, 2013.

Consumers who have any of these products should not eat them, but return them to the place of purchase for a refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 800-797-5090. There are no reported cases of injury related to this product in Colorado at this time.
