Fire flares back up in Elbert County

ELBERT COUNTY, Colo. - A fire In Elbert County is burning again. All evacuation notices were canceled for the town of Elbert and Eckhart Dr. Sunday evening and the fire was 100% contained but as of midnight Monday the fire is burning again with 75% containment.

The fire, being called the CR102 fire, grew to about 600 acres large west of Elbert off of CR 114.  As of Sunday evening, the fire was nearly contained. 

Firefighters from Elbert, Kiowa, Elizabeth, Rattlesnake, and Franktown are helping battle the blaze.  Crews will remain on scene through the night to look for spot fires in the ravine to the north of The Town of Elbert.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital due to chest pain.  He was treated and released from the hospital.
