Flash floods had no impact on Manitou real estate

Still a lot of activity in real estate market in Manitou

MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. - Despite recent flash floods in Manitou Springs, real estate brokers said interest in buying and renting in the area hasn't diminished.

Broker Rachel Buller, owner of Manitou Springs Real Estate, said the damage had little impact on the business. Home prices continue to rise, and there is plenty of activity in the market.

"People are still falling in love with Manitou Springs, and they just want to live here," she said.

Buller said potential buyers aren't scared of potential flash floods. They simply want more information. Since the two flash floods in the last month, more people have asked about flood insurance.

"I have noticed that there are more people that will ask, 'Is that in the flood plain?' Which doesn't mean they're not going buy in the flood plain, but they just are aware that that could be something that they need to keep in mind," she said.
