Former Neighbors Remember Craig Bondo

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The 20-year-old man shot to death after an altercation with Woodland Park police is being remembered by Facebook friends and former neighbors of a Colorado Springs neighborhood.

KRDO NewsChannel 13 has learned that Craig Bondo previously lived at the Monument Creek mobile home park near Fillmore Street and Cascade Avenue.  A neighbor said he and his family lived there for several years until they moved out two years ago.

"I was scared of him," said the neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous.

Other neighbors said even after Bondo moved out, he continued to hang out at a street corner near his former home.

An elderly woman who moved to the park last August said she saw Bondo as recently as two weeks ago.

"I thought he was very nice-looking, and very nice just to have a casual conversation with, you know?" she said.

Meanwhile, several friends and acquaintances of Bondo posted pictures of him on Facebook and expressed surprise and sympathy about his death.

KRDO NewsChannel 13 has been in touch with a family friend who said he knows Bondo's mother.  However, he said neither he nor she is ready to talk about Bondo publicly yet.
