COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper is speaking to government leaders from Colorado counties.
Hickenlooper's remarks in Colorado Springs Tuesday morning will be at the winter conference for Colorado Counties, Inc., which represents the interests of local governments throughout the state.
The governor has been criticized by some rural Colorado counties for legislation he signed this year, including new gun restrictions and renewable standards for electricity cooperatives.
That frustration prompted 11 counties this year to hold a vote on whether to secede from Colorado. Six counties voted against the idea.
Hickenlooper has pledged to listen and work more with local communities across Colorado.
