Hours changing for Colorado Springs Post Offices

Get set for schedule change

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo - The start and most closing times are changing at U.S. Postal Stations in Colorado Springs.  All staff will man the lobby windows starting at 9 a.m, starting Monday, April First.   It's no April Fool's Day joke, it's the real deal.  Ron Perry is with the U.S. Postal Service. He explained to me the change was because that studies proved there's not enough people traffic to support the lobby windows opening before 9 a.m., "It's to better utilize the work hours for the work load."

I asked several people about the changes.  I was at the South Eighth Street location.  Michelle Kim and her 10 month old son Dominick were in line.  She told me, "I normally don't get out of the house till a little bit later, so it doesn't really bother me."  Matthew Fowler said, "I think it'll help me because I get to sleep in an extra hour."  Daria Parker said, "I think they need to do anything they can to keep the costs where they need to be."

Ron Perry with the Postal Service reinforced that the lobby staff hour changes don't effect the 24-7 help you can through the automated services like getting stamps or going to your p.o. box to get mail.  You can also go to USPS.com for other services, too.

Here is a list of the Post Office Hour Changes, location by location in Colorado Springs.  Remember, all will open at 9 a.m.   I will only be putting the closing times on this list.
