COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - One of five Iraqi men who was arrested in connection to a Colorado Springs rape case faced a jury on Tuesday. (1/21/14).
Jasim Ramadon, who is also known was Jay Hendrix, was convicted on all of the charges he was facing except 1st degree assault. Sentencing was scheduled for April 18, 2014.
The 53-year-old victim was attacked at the Wildridge Apartments in the 2500 block of Gold Rush drive on July 21, 2012.
On August 30, 2012, KRDO NewsChannel 13 reported that the victim told police she broke up a fight between two groups of men and then one of them invited her inside an apartment.
During their conversation, the victim said she was given what she believed was lemonade and has no recollection after that.
The woman ended up at Memorial Hospital Central with significant internal injuries, blunt force trauma and serious bodily injuries, police said.
Five Iraqi nationals were arrested in connection to the crime. An arrest affidavit obtained by KRDO NewsChannel 13 on August 15, 2012 alleged that Ramadon physically assaulted and abused the woman, and a man named Sarmad Mohammed exposed himself to her. The three other men, Ali Al Juboori, Yasir Jasim and Mustafa Sataar were accused of covering up the crimes.
