Man accused of using social media to solicit underage girls for sex

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Police say as many as 200 potential victims were interviewed as part of an investigation into a man who is accused of using social media to arrange sexual encounters with women and underage girls.

Steven Leeper, 18, was arrested on February 5, 2014 at 6:45 p.m.

Leeper is facing numerous charges including sexual exploitation of a child, solicitation for child prostitution, patronizing of a prostituted child and internet luring of a child.

Police say the investigation into Leeper began in December of 2013 when they received a tip about a man who was allegedly openly and actively soliciting underage girls for sex through various social media sites, including Facebook and MeetMe.

Police say that after contacting his alleged victims through social media he would request sexually explicit pictures and videos and eventually ask the girls and women to meet him for sex. Police say Leeper often offered to pay for sexually explicit photos and for sex.

Police say there may be more victims in this case who investigators have not heard from yet. Anyone with information is asked to call Colorado Springs Police at 444-7508.
