Man arrested after ramming police car

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A Colorado Springs police officer suffered minor injuries after his patrol car was rammed while trying to stop the driver of a reported stolen car.

The driver took off Wednesday after ramming the patrol car and crashed into a fence.

It happened near Fountain Blvd. and Circle Dr. shortly before 4 Wednesday afternoon.

The vehicle, a 2007 Hyundai Sonata was reported stolen from Douglass County.

Officers Pring and Compton attempted to stop the car, but the driver rammed the front of Officer Pring's marked cruiser. Pring suffered minor injuries but is expected to be okay.

Charles Smart is facing charges of assault, careless driving and eluding police.

A passenger, Margot Selgam, was also arrested and charged with theft.
