Man carjacked, stabbed in hand in Springs

Victim was dropping off son when it happened

COLORADO SPRINGS - A man dropping off his son at his ex-wife's house early Tuesday morning was stabbed and carjacked.

It happened just after 4:30 a.m. at the intersection of La Salle and Monteagle streets, according to Springs police.

The victim told officers he left his vehicle running as he got his 10-year-old out of the car.

A two-door, silver Honda Civic with tinted windows pulled up next to his vehicle. The suspect got out of the car and started pounding on the driver's window as the victim was getting his son out of the rear passenger side.

The man got his son out of harm's way and went back to the vehicle. That's when the suspect got into the car and started to drive away. The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 20s, 5'8", with a heavy goatee and wearing a multi-colored sports jacket and gray beanie cap.

As the suspect was leaving, the victim reached through the broken car window and grabbed the suspect by the jacket. He says the suspect stabbed him with a screwdriver and then drove away.

The suspects have not been found.
