FLORENCE, Colo. - An investigation is underway after a man who was swimming with friends in a Florence pond went under the water and never came back up.
The incident happened at 1:45 p.m. at the Blue Heron Ponds, which is located on the east side of highway 115 and north of the Arkansas River.
The Fremont County Sheriff's Office says the 20-year-old became entangled in thick weeds and disappeared below the water surface. The man's friends tried to rescue him, but could not.
The man's body was recovered by the Pueblo County Sheriff's Office dive team at 3:04 p.m.
Foul play and alcohol are not believed to have been factors.
