Man shot by Springs police has died

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A man shot by a Colorado Springs police officer has died from his injuries at Memorial Hospital.

The man who was shot has been identified as 23 year old Robert Kresky. It started as a chase through Colorado Springs on December 4th. 

Police say they observed a stolen car in the area of Powers Blvd. and Astrozon Blvd.

The car did not stop so police pursued him. Police say a police car crashed with the stolen vehicle near Bijou St. and Iowa Ave. and ended the pursuit.

The suspect then fled on foot, prompting a foot pursuit.

An officer shot the suspect who was transported to a local hospital. 

Police say according to standard policy, any officer involved in a police shooting will be placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.

Investigators from the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office and detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit are co-investigating this incident.
