COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo - A positive detour for Minnesota Boy Scouts who rolled into Colorado Springs on Friday to help Black Forest fire survivors. They had a trailer full of summer and winter clothes for those who lost their clothes in the Fire.
Waconia troop 337 was well represented. Ben Thew is a former Colorado Springs area scout who came up with the idea for the scouts to collect clothes and bring them to the studios of KRDO, NewsChannel 13. He told me it was important for him to do it, "It makes me feel awesome. It's good to know people are nice enough to care."
Rick Weibel is the 337 Scout Leader, "I'm proud of the boys. It encourages me that we are doing the right things and these boys are learning the scout law."
The Scouts took their donations to the Goodwill on Garden of the Gods to drop them off. They made this special detour in Colorado Springs on their way to a National Boy Scout Camp in New Mexico.
