Missing girl found safe, woman charged with kidnapping

Amber Alert canceled

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs Police have canceled the Amber Alert that they issued for a missing 2 year old girl on Wednesday.

The little girl disappeared Monday night. A 28-year-old woman, Tonia Shetina, was reportedly supposed to take the Essence to her grandfather's home on Monday night but they never arrived.

On Wednesday afternoon, deputies learned that Shetina was staying at a home south of Fountain.  Authorities went to the home and found Essence there, unharmed.

On Thursday, police announced that Shetina was taken into custody and charged with 2nd degree kidnapping and motor vehicle theft.
