More than a dozen cars wrecked, nine hurt in I-25 pileup

Raw: Dust storm closes I-25 south of Pueblo

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. - I-25 is now open after being closed for most of the day because of crashes and blinding dust storms.

Southbound I-25 was closed from Pueblo Boulevard to about a mile south of Stem Beach from around 11:30 a.m. to just after 4:30 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2014.

The Colorado State Patrol says there were as many as three crashes involving between 14 and 17 vehicles on the stretch of highway that was impacted by the blowing dust.

A total of nine people were injured in the wrecks. Some of the injuries are considered serious.

Strong winds and blowing dust forced I-25 to close along the same stretch on Sunday (1/12/14).
