31-year-old man arrested in connection to case

Canon City Triple Homicide

CANON CITY, Colo. - Police have arrested 31-year-old Jaacob Van Winkle as a suspect in a triple homicide.

Three people were found dead in a home in Cañon City late Sunday night.

Cañon City Police say the victims are a 5-year-old Mason Folsom, 9-year-old Marissa Folsom, and their mother 35-year-old Mandy Folsom.  One of her other children, a teenager, survived.

The teen girl was reportedly sexually assaulted, but was able to get out the house.

Police said officers responded to a sexual assault call by the female teenager around 8 p.m. Sunday (3/9) in the 1100 block of Phay Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found three people dead inside the home.  

Police said there is no further danger to the public.

Van Winkle faces multiple counts, including:

• 3 Counts 1st-Degree Murder

• 1 Count Kidnapping

• Sexual Assault

• Sexual Assault on a Child by a Person in a Position of Trust

Van Winkle will be arraigned at 11:00 am Monday (3/10/14).
