COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo - When the girl was first discovered walking alone, at night on Sunday night, she told police her name was Jaycee Madison Duffree, but that's all she seemed to know.
She was found around 11:15 p.m. in the 3900 block of Regency Drive.
"I heard a little girl's voice. The first thing I thought was, 'What is she doing up so late?' My doorbell rang and there was four officers and this beautiful little brunette girl, she ran up and gave me a hug," said Kristin, a neighbor who saw the little girl Sunday night.
Besides that hug, all the little girl had to offer, was a name.
"When I first heard her, I got a little teary-eyed because I always worried about my 4-year-old getting out. She didn't seem to know any of the houses. She kind of walked the officers up and down the neighborhood," said Kristin.
Kristin, who is a mother of three, also said for her, this is a wake-up call.
She thinks it's vital that kids know important information as soon as they can, like where they live, a phone number, and who their parents are.
"We make sure the older they get the more they know, they know my number now. You knock on the wrong door and it could be a bad person, so luckily she was able to get to police and get taken care of," said Kristin.
We don't yet know how the girl disappeared. Police said no charges are being filed at this time.
