Police accuse Springs man of stealing back flow valves

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs Police have linked Corey Miller to a string of back flow valve thefts that caused tens of thousands of dollars in damage.

Police say that starting in late December 2013 people began calling to report that someone had cut the back flow valves off of their sprinkler systems and stolen them.

During the investigation detectives identified Miller as a possible suspect and began monitoring his activities.

On Wednesday, January 15, 2014 officers pulled Miller over in the area of Dublin Blvd. and Peterson Rd. Police say they found 13 recently cut off back flow valves in his vehicle along with burglary tools and equipment.

Police say this investigation and arrest involved around 150 cases with damage to sprinkler systems estimated at $60,000. They say $20,000 worth of metal was stolen.

Miller is currently facing charges for felony theft and criminal mischief.
