COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs police are investigating an attempted robbery and stabbing.
Police say a man called 911 shortly after midnight Tuesday saying he was stabbed in the area of Cimarron Street and El Paso Street.
The man told police he was walking in the area when a man approached him and asked for money. He said he was stabbed in the chest after he fell while attempting to run away. He told police he found a 2 x 4 board and swung it at the suspect in self-defense.
A short time later, a man called 911 from S. Chelton Road. That man told police he was hit in the head with a board by a man. He also told police there was a third man involved. He said he disarmed a man who had a knife, and stabbed the other man, who had a board, in self-defense.
Both men were taken to Memorial Hospital to treat minor injuries.
Police say drugs and/or alcohol were involved in the incident.
So far, no charges have been filed.
