COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A man is found dead Friday at the Clarion Hotel near Interstate 25 and Bijou Street in Colorado Springs.
Police said they got a call from an employee around 12:30 p.m. about a guest who was unconscious in his room. They believe the man suffered an apparent gun shot wound.
Detectives said they're in the early stages of their investigation.
A car possibly belonging to the dead man was towed from the scene as part of the investigation.
The coroner's office removed the body from the hotel just before 5:30 p.m. Once an autopsy is completed, the cause and manner of death will be released as well as the man's identity.
A woman staying at the hotel said she overheard management discussing the man's death as a suicide but police would not confirm that. The incident was unsettling for dozens of families from out of town who were attending an event at the hotel.
Police say if this death is ruled a homicide, it will mark the city's ninth of 2013.
