Suspicious Death

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs police said that a man found unconscious in an alley and who later died at a hospital Saturday night, died of natural causes.

Police initially said the death was suspicious.  After an autopsy was completed, the coroner announced Monday the manner of death was from natural causes.

The man was found unconscious, laying in an alley south of the 500 block of W. Colorado Ave. just before 7 p.m. Saturday night.

Larry Herbert, a spokesperson for the police department, told KRDO NewsChannel 13 that responding officers found the unconscious man still breathing and saw that he was bleeding from undetermined injuries.

The 55-year-old man was taken to a local hospital. He was pronounced dead about 20 minutes later at the hospital.

Police are not releasing the name of the man until his family has been notified.
