Police: Man steals money from register, leaves wallet & ID behind

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs Police say a man who stole money from the cash register at a south side pharmacy left behind some pretty important clues.

The incident happened at the Walgreens in the 1800 block of Southgate Rd. It was reported at 4:22 a.m. on August 8, 2014.

Police say Daniel Munoz was there buying a lighter and that when the register opened, he grabbed cash out of it and ran off. They say Munoz forgot to take his wallet and ID with him as he fled the store.

A store employee said Munoz got away on a bicycle.

Officers caught up with Munoz in the 500 block of Asbury Pl.

Police say Munoz refused to stop for the officers and when one officer got out of his vehicle and told Munoz to stop, Munoz lowered his head and shoulder and tried to run into the officer.

The officer knocked Munoz down and arrested him.

Munoz was arrested for several charges, including attempted 2nd degree assault on a peace officer.

Police say Munoz is also suspected of stealing several DVD's from a nearby Walmart store earlier in the morning.
