Police: Mother facing child abuse charges after baby left in hot car

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado Springs Police Department says a woman left her five month old unattended in a hot car for around 20 minutes while she was inside a northeast side store.

Police say Ella S. Lee went into the TJ Maxx in the 3800 block of Bloomington Street to return an item. They say Lee left the infant sleeping in its car seat.

The fire department was called and broke into the vehicle to check on the baby.

Police say the temperature outside was 73 degrees and the infant was sitting in direct sunlight.

Lee is facing child abuse charges. Police say the infant will be okay.
