Police searching for suspected identity thief

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - The Colorado Springs Police Department is asking for your help finding a man who is wanted for numerous crimes, including identity theft and forgery.

Jaylen Alexander Mitchell is also known as Jaylen Ross and Ross Mafioso.

Mitchell is facing charges for Identity Theft, Forgery, Fraud by Check and Theft.

Police accuse Mitchell of befriending people for the purpose of scamming them. Detectives say Mitchell tells his new friends that he just sold a car but can't cash the check because he doesn't have identification or a bank account. They say he convinces his new friends to deposit the check and then take out the cash to give to Mitchell. Once the bank learns Mitchell's check is no good, his victims becomes responsible for re-paying the bank.

Police say Mitchell is known to spend a lot of time in the area of Fountain Blvd. and Chelton Road.
