Police seek white minivan in attempted kidnapping case

PUEBLO, Colo. - Pueblo Police say that a man in a white minivan tried to kidnap a woman overnight.

Officers were called to a restaurant in the 2000 block of S. Pueblo Blvd. just after midnight on August 20, 2014.

The 38-year-old victim told officers that she was walking to the restaurant from Red Creek Springs Road when the white van pulled up and a man inside asked her if she needed a ride.

Police say the woman declined the offer for a ride and continued walking. They say that she later saw the same minivan turn in front of her as she was approaching Glenroyal. She said she was going to cross Glenroyal when the man got out of the minivan and asked again if she needed a ride. This time she says the man grabbed her coat and tried to pull her into the van when she said no.

The woman told police that she fell down as she tried to pull away from the man, and that he hit her on the right side of her face.

The man then left westbound on Glenroyal.

The minivan that police are looking for bears the license plate number 572KBX. The victim said the van's plates expired in 2005. The minivan is described as old and white with a blue stripe down the side.

The woman said the driver was around 40-years-old, 5'6" tall, 150 pounds with a thick Spanish accent. She said he was wearing a white shirt, blue jeans and a black ball cap.

Anyone with information is asked to call Pueblo Police at 719-553-2502 or Crime Stoppers at 719-542-STOP (7867).
