Psychologist arrested for alleged sexual relationship with client

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A Colorado Springs psychologist has been arrested for allegedly having a sexual relationship with one of her clients.

The alleged relationship happened from August 2011 until October or November 2011.

The alleged victim was assigned to receive counseling in the summer of 2010 as it related to his combat deployments, police said.  He began seeing licensed psychologist Dr. Janice Husted for this counseling and the relationship developed, police said.

The man told police that Husted told him on several occasions that he had to be careful and not tell people when they were out on "dates."  The victim said he told Husted that he did not want to keep their relationship a secret and she replied that they would have to wait two years before they could have an open and legitimate relationship.  When the victim told her that he did not want to wait two years, the psychologist ended their relationship, police said.

Following an investigation, on December 31, 2012, investigators arrested Husted for Sexual Assault on a Client by a Psychotherapist which is a Class 4 Felony.
