Pueblo police investigating suspicious death

Officers believe man died in Bessemer neighborhood after altercation at bar

PUEBLO, Colo. - A man found dead in a home suffered head trauma, according to a preliminary autopsy report.

Pueblo County Coroner James Kramer said toxicology results for Claude Baca, 47, won't be available for several weeks.

Pueblo police are investigating Baca's death in a Bessemer neighborhood as suspicious. Officers were called to a home in the 1500 block of E. Routt Sunday night.

Family members told police they found Baca lying down, and thought he was sleeping, and possibly drunk.

They checked on him later and called 911 when they weren't sure if he was breathing.

Paramedics found Baca dead.

Police say Baca may have been in an altercation at Sharkey's bar earlier in the afternoon.

Police say a person of interest was identified, and the investigation is ongoing.
