Shots fired at Springs Elementary school building

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Police are searching for people who fired shots at a Colorado Springs Elementary School early Thursday morning while the school was closed.

Officials said the suspects fired 11 rounds at Canon Elementary School in the 1200 block of West Cheyenne Road at about 3:50 a.m.No one was inside the school at the time.

One of the bullets struck a window, causing a small amount of damage, according to Colorado Springs Police.

District 12 officials responded to the scene and secured the window.

Police said the shooters left in a silver Volkswagen Jetta and red 90's model Oldsmobile.
