COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A third fire is extinguished in Northeastern El Paso County in just a matter of days.
It started just before noon near the intersection of Stagecoach Road and Roller Coaster Road on Sunday. Fortunately firefighters were able to knock it down fast. It burned about 60 square feet.
Fire investigators spent some time looking at the debris but wouldn't say if they believe it is arson related.
Last Tuesday, the El Paso County Sheriff's office reported someone started two fires nearby at Fox Run Regional Park. In a statement, Sheriff Terry Maketa asked the public to keep an eye out and report any suspicious activity.
A woman and her husband spotted the fire on Sunday while on their way to church. Betty Baughman says it took firefighters about seven minutes to get there. She believes the fire may have been set on purpose.
In the meantime, El Paso County Asst. Fire Marshall Scott Campbell says despite recent rains, the area remains very dry.
