Snow to blame for Pueblo County power outage

PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. - 4,000 San Isabel Electric customers lost power Wednesday morning (10/16/13) after heavy snow fell in southwestern Pueblo County.

San Isabel Electric says power has been restored to most of Colorado City and Rye. Service is expected to be fully restored to surrounding areas by early afternoon.

Rye Elementary, Craver Middle School, Rye High School, & Beulah K-8 closed during the mid-morning hours Wednesday because of the outage, according to Pueblo County School District 70.

In nearby Huerfano County, the Gardner School was closed for the day. Huerfano School District RE-1 cited a power outage for the closure.

STORMTRACKER 13 Meteorologist Rachael Plath says one weather station near Rye reported that 13.2" of snow fell overnight Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
