COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Southern Colorado got up and walked Saturday morning (4/26/14) supporting healthier babies in Colorado Springs.
March of dimes hosted the march for babies walk Saturday in Pueblo and at UCCS. 1,853 people walked in Colorado Springs.
KRDO NewsChannel 13's Heather Skold emceed the event. March of Dimes raises money and awareness for babies born prematurely and babies with birth defects.
"We always want our kids to be healthy and happy, etc. but things happen and you gotta try to struggle through it and move on. So it's nice to know there's people out there and facilities out there," said Hanna's Minions team member Kevin Stilson.
He was walking for his daughter Johanna who has cerebral palsy.
March of Dimes says eight babies die every week in Colorado. Southern Colorado's chapter raises nearly half a million dollars every year.
