Springs car theft suspect arrested after pursuit, foot chase

Police say suspect jumped from moving vehicle

COLORADO SPRINGS - One suspect is under arrest and another is still on the run after a police pursuit and foot chase.

It started around 1 a.m. Thursday on Circle Drive, according to Colorado Springs police.

An officer began following a reported stolen vehicle and called for backup. Police say the vehicle began to commit multiple traffic violations, so the officer tried to stop the car. 

The suspects refused to stop, so the officer pursued the vehicle. Just before calling off the chase, the officer saw the two suspects jump out of the moving vehicle and run.

Another officer in the area was able to run down the suspected driver, but the passenger managed to get away.

The driver has been identified as Anthony Ortiviz, who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Police say he also will be charged with theft by receiving.
