Springs police say man advertised furniture restoration business, kept furniture

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs Police are searching for a man who they say took furniture to restore and then never did the work.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Jerald Dougherty.

Police say Dougherty claimed to be in the business of furniture restoration and advertised that he would pick up the furniture along with the down payments for the work.

Investigators say Dougherty pocketed the down payments and kept the furniture. In some cases they say he even sold the furniture.

Police say some of the furniture was recovered from a storage unit linked to Dougherty. They say none of the recovered furniture had been restored.

Police say Dougherty advertised under the name Colorado Furniture Restoration and that some of the complaints they have received against him go back to 2012.

Dougherty is facing a felony theft charge.

You're asked to call police if you know where he is.
