Standoff Ends in Colorado Springs

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs Police were involved in a stand-off with a suspect at Comfort Dental on Academy Blvd. and Austin Bluffs Parkway.

Police told KRDO NewsChannel 13 27-year-old Andrew Stiern was wanted on several felony warrants, including escape.  Officers tracked him to the area of Academy and Austin Bluffs.

Police say he went inside the Comfort Dental, asked to use the restroom, then climbed into the ceiling.  At some point, Stiern fell from the ceiling, but stayed inside the building.

Officers convinced Stiern to come out and he was taken into custody.  Police say he had a gun, but no one was hurt.

"It happened so fast that you hardly had time to think. After you look back at it, you're going man this is a scary situation because actually I was in between them," said receptionist Ana Rein.

Rein said Stiern caused a mess falling out of the ceiling, damaging a few of the ceiling tiles. He was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
