State troopers search for car-theft suspect near Cascade

CASCADE, Colo. - State Patrol spent several hours Friday night searching for a car theft suspect they forced off Highway 24 through Ute Pass.

It began just after 6 p.m. when troopers tried pulling over a Honda Civic. A spokesman for State Patrol said it was speeding.

A man and woman ran from the car. The woman was taken into custody while the man is still being sought. He's described as a young man wearing a white shirt and a hat.

A tracking dog was used and State Patrol was assisted by the Green Mountain Falls Police Department and the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

State troopers said the car was stolen from Colorado Springs. No charges have been filed just yet.

A spokesperson for State Patrol said there is no reason to believe the man on the run is armed and dangerous.
