Suspect rams cruiser, leads officers on chase

Authorities called off the chase after speeds reached 100 mph

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Colorado Springs police say the driver of a stolen vehicle rammed a police cruiser and then took off, leading officers from multiple agencies on a chase toward Pueblo.

Police tell us the officer spotted the stolen car at the 7-Eleven on the corner of Platte Avenue and Union Boulevard around 10:30 Tuesday night.

When the officer approached the car, they say the driver put the car in gear and rammed the police cruiser behind him.  The officer wasn't hurt.

An unmarked car followed the stolen car as the driver sped off. 

State Patrol took over the chase when the driver headed towards Pueblo on I-25.

CSP officials say they stopped the pursuit because of excessive speed.

The vehicle is described as a white Hyundai Sonata with right rear passenger door damage and possible rear end damage from striking the police cruiser.

The plate last seen on the vehicle was 718ZBK.
